First U.S athlete to compete at Olympics in Hijab. She won the bronze medal in fencing.

When asked , why she chose to play in Hijab ??

She says ,

“MY HIJAB IS A PART OF WHO I AM”

She further says , “I’ve always been an athlete. My parents encouraged not just myself but all my siblings to be in sports. What I loved most about fencing was it allowed me to pursue my desire to be involved in sports, but also allowed me to be myself as Muslim woman. I didn’t have to change anything about myself for the sport in order to participate, and I think that’s always what has kept me in it–it was just this conscious decision that I made to change the face of Team USA. I wanted the U.S. fencing team to be more diverse and I thought, what better way to do that than to buckle down and qualify for a United States team?

She further talks about her Fashion Brand Louella

Louella started in 2014, it’s been a whirlwind of excitement. I’ve been able to do something a little bit different from my life as a professional athlete. It’s great to begin this company that I feel fills a void within the U.S. market…It’s not the easiest thing to do, but I’m a planner. I’m very goal oriented.

All the best to Ibtihaj Muhammad for her future endeavors!!
