After Ira Singhal who cleared UPSC Civil Services 2015 followed by Tina Dabi in 2016, this year Nandini KR from Karnataka is the third woman in a row who has secured first rank in the prestigious civil services examination.
Nandini comes from a small town called Kolar in Karnataka, Nandini K R has topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination 2016. She studied in Kannada medium from the government-aided Thimmaiah Vidyalaya at Kolar and Pre-University Course from Alva’s College at Moodabidri in Dakshina Kannada district.
Also, Nandini is from the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
Nandini is at present undergoing training at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics in Faridabad.
“Success may be delayed, not denied. Nobody in my family has ever been an IAS/ICS/IRS. I am the first one,” says topper Nandini K R.
“This is a very happy moment. I was hoping to do well this time, but the top position is a pleasant surprise,” a gushing Nandini told TOI. Bedi, calling himself the male topper, said it was “miracle” and that he was, in fact, already preparing for CSE 2017.
Of the top 25 successful candidates, 18 are men and seven women. Also, 44 are physically challenged, including 22 orthopaedically challenged, seven visually challenged and 15 hearing impaired.
