Jaipur: Former MP and Social Activist in the field of spreading cancer awareness, Priya Dutt today graced second chapter of Choupal series, a new initiative of Prabha Khaitan Foundation in collaboration with Star Foundation. “Choupal” series is about a very intimate interaction with an individual who has made a mark in their field of work. Rukshmani Kumari, Founder Star Foundation was in conversation with Priya Dutt. The talk-show was organized at Hotel ITC, Rajputana.
About her relationship with her father and legendary actor Sunil Dutt, Priya said, “My father has played various roles in my life. He was very strict and disciplined in our childhood days, we were not allowed to go out of home post sunset or watch T.V. while my mom was soft and humble at heart. But when mom fell ill, we saw a completely different persona of him. His love, affection, and care towards his wife impressed his three children a lot. After mom’s death, we went into a different zone. He was disheartened and sad. He would stay in the living room throughout the day. Since we were very young, we could not even understand the pain he was going through. After a period of one-and-a-half-year, he evolved as a different person. He took the role of being a mother and father to his three children. From a small school meeting to a big event in our life, he was there throughout and had started looking at life how my mom would see it.”
Dutt who has been vocal about spreading cancer awareness said, “We founded Nargis Dutt Foundation in U.S. in 1981 after my mom’s demise. The inspiration behind the foundation was my mother who while she was hospitalized would say my dad that how we were blessed to have flown down to U.S. for the treatment but the ones back in India had to face so much of trouble because there is a lot of money involved in the whole process. Our friends and family in U.S. helped us start the foundation back then and now we are operating for cancer awareness throughout India. ”
After the huge success of Ek Mulakat, Kalam, Aakhar and Write Circle; Prabha Khaitan Foundation in collaboration with Star Foundation had launched Choupal in cultural and literature hub Jaipur with famous Bollywood actor Rahul Bose.
