Gym for Women: A yes or no?

Today is an era of fitness everybody is doing their bit to become fit or maintain the fitness, but going to the gym for women is always a debatable topic.

Let’s dig deep into this topic : 

Advantages of Gym 

1 .Lose Body Fat and Gain Strength Without Bulking 

Weight training builds muscle, as lean muscle increases so does metabolism. A higher metabolism means that you will burn more calories all day long. Studies found that the the average woman who strength trains two to three times a week for two months will gain nearly two pounds of muscle and will lose 3.5 pounds of fat.

One of the most common reasons women avoid weight training is because they are afraid of “bulking.” This is a misconception as it physically can not happen.

Women simply don’t have the testosterone to build muscle like men. Women have 10 to 30 times less testosterone than men and have a much harder time gaining size from strength training. Instead, women develop muscle definition and strength without the size.

2 .  Improve Posture and Reduce Back Pain and Enhance Mood and Reduce Stress 

Weight-training will strengthen your back, shoulders, and core, helping to correct bad posture so that you can stand taller, with shoulders back and spine straight. A stronger back and core will also prevent lower back pain

Exercise and weight-training release endorphins. Endorphins are neurotransmitters that prevent pain, improve mood, and fight depression. An increased endorphins naturally reduces stress and anxiety.. Weight-training can brighten your entire day or help you combat a bad one.

Disadvantages of gym

Let’s face it – the majority of us hate going to the gym. If there was a way to get washboard abs and a booty to die for without exercise then we would be all over it. Unfortunately, physics is against us.Signing up for the gym for the first time can be daunting. You might not be sure how long you’ll keep at it, how much time you can dedicate, or you might not have a clear idea of your end goal. 

But there are disadvantages to the gym:

1 .Train Unnatural Movements and Safety Risks

Aside from toning your muscles and trimming fat, one of the main goals of your exercise routine should be to improve overall strength, coordination, and athletic ability. According to some experts, training with exercise machines does not train motor patterns properly. Only through body-weight and free weight training can you work the muscles involved in the exercise.

Of course, a major consideration for any exercise routine should be the safety of the exercises. Working out on machines may seem easier than training with free weights, but they can actually be more dangerous.

 Machines are not configured to your exact body size and type, so you may be putting yourself through unnatural motions and extending yourself too far during various machine exercises, which can put pressure on your joints and spine.

2 .You May Feel Inadequate or Very Intimidating

If you are excessively concerned with your body shape then you might be suffering from body dysmorphic disorder.

Striving to achieve or maintain the “perfect body” may put too much stress on both your body and mind. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be the best version of yourself, but gyms are quite often places where the focus is on the overall look of the body. Exercising should be about bettering your body and mind, not just your body image.

The gym can be an intimidating place. There are large open spaces, huge bulky equipment and that’s even before you notice the Body Gods walking around. As soon as your introductory session is over, leaving you to your own devices, you can’t help but run away from any machine bigger than yourself.

The only way around this would be to hire a experienced personal trainer to come along with you, but of course, that’s just another expense to add to the ever-climbing membership fee. Before you know it you’ve just spent an hour on the exercise bike too afraid to move on to anything else.
