Suit of the Week: Banana Republic

model wears forest emerald green pants suit; she has a gold necklace and a matching scarf tied like a bandeau instead of a top (do not recommend for work); she's holding the strap of a brown purse.

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional.

What a pretty, pretty color for a suit! We’ve featured this brand and this exact line (Banana Republic, Sculpted Wool), but I do believe this colorway is new for the season. I love the suit — it obviously looks great with green on green styling, but I think it also works with browns, whites, creams, navy, and black, and for a bit of a contrasting element try a purple or pink (light or dark), light blue, or a cobalt.

While I don’t recommend the bandeau styling of the scarf for work, I do feel like scarves-styled-in-interesting ways are making a comeback. TikToker @ClaudyMoreira1 is a must-watch if you’re interested; the stuff she does with scarves and blazers is amazing. (Apparently Vogue calls her “the queen of scarves!”).

The suit is available at Banana Republic; it has matching straight and wide-leg trousers and comes in regular and petite sizes. The pieces are $150-$230 but you can take an extra 40% off because of the semi-annual Friends & Family event that both BR and Banana Republic Factory are having right now. (The pictured scarf is $100, but also 40% off today.)
