Hollywood has been the inspiration for Bollywood for the longest time. From storylines to movie posters, our entertainment industry has copied it all. Here’s a fun list of Bollywood films that drew inspiration from its international counterpart while designing movie posters:
Dishoom = Due Date
The poster of the Varun Dhavn and John Abraham starrer Dishoom seems to have been inspired from Hollywood film Due Date. Its trailer, however, doesn’t strike a common note with the film, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis.
Phantom = Homefront
The first poster of the film starring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan, Phantom, was spine-chilling. However, its eerie resemblance to Homefront’s poster was hard to ignore.
Badlapur = Inception
The poster for Badlapur, starring Varun Dhavn, pictured a top-shot of the Badlapur station and the railway tracks, indicating that the film is set in a specific part of Mumbai. We feel this shot was perhaps inspired by a similar poster for the film Inception. What do you think?
Creature 3D = Jeepers Creepers
Remember that movie that Bipasha Basu acted in? No, not Alone, the other one. Vikram Bhatt’s Creatures 3D’s resemblance to the 2001 Hollywood movie Jeepers Creepers was unmistakable—and incredibly spooky.
Ra.One — Batman Begins
While some feel Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One was inspired by the Hollywood film Tron, its poster resembled the one designed for Batman Begins. On a side note, we think SRK looked even better than Batman.
